It’s Thanksgiving tonight and I can’t go by without making something for the holiday. While trying to come up with an idea this little finger puppet poped into my mind 🙂 Hope you like it! This turkey has legs so it can dance on your dinner table 🙂
Skill level: Fun 🙂
What will you need:
Two wiggly eyes.
Felt for the back to make it stronger (optional)
Yarn: Small amounts of any medium weight yarn. I used:
RED HEART® “Super Saver®”
- 360 Cafe – Color A.
- 324 Bright Yellow – Color B.
- 1909 Holly Berry – Color C.
- 1252 Mango – Color D.
|hdc||half double crochet|
|* to **||rep from * to **|
Begin with a magic ring. Here is a link to the tutorial for the magic ring.
*Notice: The Body is worked in a continuous round, do not join or turn. I recommend to use a stitch marker on the first sc of the second round, or string a different color of yarn there so you can remember when you finished working a round.
Begin with sliding loop. Ch 1.
Rnd 1: 6 sc in ring. (pull tail of yarn) (6 sc)
Rnd 2: 2 sc in each of next 6 sc. (12 sc)
Rnd 3: *2 sc in next sc, 1 sc in next sc, rep from * 5 more times. (18 sc)
Rnd 4: *2 sc in next sc, 1 sc in each of next 2 sc, rep from * 5 more times. (24 sc)
Rnd 5: *2 sc in next sc, 1 sc in each of next 3 sc, rep from * 5 more times. (30 sc)
Rnd 6: * 2 sc in next sc, 1 sc in each of next 4 sc**, 1 hdc in next sc, 1 dc in each of next 2 sc, ch 9 (ch less or more if other finger size is needed), 1 dc in each of next 2 sc, ch 9, 1 dc in each of next 2 sc, 1 hdc in next sc, 1 sc in each of next 2 sc, rep from * to ** 3 more times.
Rnd 7: sc in each st around. When reaching the chains sc 9 (sc the number of chains you worked), Sl st to next sc. Fasten off; Weave in ends.
Row 1: ch 2, 2 sc in first ch, turn.
Row 2: ch 1, 1 sc in first space, 1 sc in each of next 2 sts, turn. (3 sc)
Row 3: ch 1, 1 sc in first space, 1 sc in each of next 3 sts, Sl st. Fasten off leaving a long tail for sewing. (4 sc)
Sew the Beak in the center of the Body as pictured. Hide ends.
ch 11, *skip next ch, 3 sc in next ch, rep from * 4 more times. Sl st in last ch. Fasten off leaving a long tail for sewing. Twist the piece.
Sew Wattle on left top side of Beak as pictured.
COLOR B, C and D (Make three feathers out of each color)
ch 5 plus two starting ch, 1 hdc in 3rd ch from hook, 1 hdc in each of next 3 ch, 4 hdc in last ch, continue to other side of row, 1 hdc in each of next 4 ch, Sl st. Fasten off leaving a long tail for sewing.
Sew the feathers near each other to the back edges of the body as pictured.
Glue the wiggly eyes.
Cut out a circle from felt that is the same size as the body above the finger holes and glue it to the back of the piece.
Now your turkey can go dancing on the table! Have a wonderful fiesta! 😀
