So what do we need?

4th of July Cheer Pom Pom Supplies

Yarn:

  • Red, Blue, White  and cool sparkly yarns of your choice (I used what i had in my house; Blue and Soft White  by Red Heart, Red by Caron Simply Soft, and Platinum by Lion Brand Vanna’s Glamour).
  • Scissors
  • Pencil
  • Tape Measure
  • Glitter Tape (Optional – Pom Pom looks really cool without this too. I used Recollections Glitter Tape).

Now let’s get started! Start by holding all four colors of yarn together and consider them as one. Cut 15 pieces of each color that are 10 inch/25.4 cm long.

Take a 10 inch piece of yarn from one of the colors and place it 90 degrees under the group of all yarns we just cut.

Make a strong double knot.

Fold the strand of yarns into two.

Cut another 10 inch piece of yarn from one of the colors and tie around the folded strand about an inch from the top.

Tie in a tight knot, then wrap around 180 degrees from the knot and tie in another strong knot. Take your pencil and stick it in the top, keep pushing it in until you reach the knot that’s an inch away so it will hold the pencil better.

Now you can enjoy your Pom Pom as is;

OR… Take the Glitter tape now and from the top of the pencil that’s showing, start warping the tape around in a diagonally way, and as you work down the pencil keep the tape stretched so it won’t be bumpy.

And now you are ready to shake your Pom Pom and go enjoy some fireworks with it! 😀
