The crochet Octopus is one of those easy things to make and great to have since they are so darn cute! they make a great key chain, a great little decoration and you could even make many of them and hang them in as a mobile. They can also be great for party favors! You can make them in solid colors or like I did in a yarn that had color changing in it! Either way, hope you enjoy making this little guy! 🙂
Skill level: Fun and Easy 🙂
What will you need:
Two wiggly eyes.
Yarn: Small amounts of any color yarn. I used RED HEART® “Super Saver®”
- 3955 Wildflower.
|hdc||half double crochet|
|*||rep from *|
Begin with a magic ring. Here is a link to the tutorial for the magic ring.
Rnd 1: ch 1, 4 sc in ring (Pull tail of yarn). (4 sc)
Rnd 2: 2 sc in each of next 4 sc. (8 sc)
Rnd 3: *2 sc in next sc, 1 sc in next sc, rep from * 3 more times. (12 sc)
Rnd 4: *2 sc in next sc, 1 sc in each of next 2 sc, rep from * 3 more times. (16 sc)
Rnd 5 – Rnd 7: 1 sc in each of next 16 sc. (16 sc)
*Ch 9 plus one starting ch, Sl st in 2nd and 3rd ch from hook, 1 sc in each of next 3 ch, 1 hdc in each of next 4 ch, skip one st from last round in Body, Sl st to next sc, rep from * 7 more times. Fasten off; weave in ends.
With remaning tail left from the magic ring, bring tail through the Key chain, and back through the center of the first round and tie a good knot so the keychain is now in a loop that’s attached to the Octopus
(see picture below).
Glue the wiggly eyes and your done! 🙂
