I wish all Chocolate Coin candy was calorie free 🙁 Well until that will be invented we’ll just make lots of crochet coins!

In a week and a half it is Hanukkah! Need to remember to buy candles this year! hehe I thought it would be fun to make some Hanukkah crochet goodies so I started with a Dreidel that actually spins! That even surprised me! You can grab the pattern for the Dreidel here on my Etsy shop or here on my Craftsy shop.

Now, what fun are the Dreidels without making a ton of Chocolate coins? According to tradition, on Hanukkah we play the dreidel game that goes something like this: There are four sides to the dreidel and on each side there is a letter: Nun, Gimel, Hey, Shin/Pey. Nes Gadol Haya Sham/Poh, meaning, A big miracle happened there/here. If you live In Israel you use the Pey letter as the forth letter and If you are anywhere else In the world you use the Shin.

When you start the game you go over the rules, which are: each letter means something else as far as what goes on with the coins. Now I don’t remember exactly which letter means which but there is one letter that you get all the coins in the pile, one that you loose all your coins i think, one that you give 1/2 into the pile… and you get the point hehe You can also make up those rules your self 😉 Or at least that’s what my sisters and I did 🙂

So the more Coins you have, the longer the game can be. Each one spins the Dreidel on his turn and sees what letter it falls on. For example; say I spin the dreidel and it falls on Nun which means “Miracle” I can decide before that it means “win the jackpot” so It would be awesome if it fell on Nun hehe

Here is a free pattern for you to create as many Calorie Free Chocolate Coins as you can before Hanukkah! Ready… Get set, Go! 🙂
